About me

Your online French teacher with a multicultural and artistic background

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

7+ years of teaching French

I started teaching French in 2018, and my experience ranges from after-school programs, the French Institute Alliance Française in New York City, the American University of Paris, and private lessons in person and online to over 30 students.

Teaching group classes at FIAF and AUP, I created interactive and thoughtful lesson plans following the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (A1 to C1) to build a solid progression of speaking and comprehension skills.

My private French lessons online are an opportunity to design meaningful lesson plans, combining the rigorous and rich pedagogical resources of the CEFR framework with my creativity and passion for sharing the French language.

A MULTICULTURAL & ARTISTIC BACKGROUND

Between Lyon, New York, and Paris

A dual citizen of France and the United States, I grew up in Lyon in a

bicultural and bilingual family. As a child and teenager, I sang in the children's choir of the National Opera of Lyon for six years before following the Theatre program for my Literary baccalaureate curriculum.

I moved to New York City in 2009 to study Theatre and Russian at Barnard College, with a semester abroad at the Moscow Art Theatre School. I then pursued an MFA in Acting at Columbia University School of the Arts. My studies have given me academic curiosity and rigor, as a well as a rich cultural and creative background.

In addition to teaching, I have worked many different jobs in New York City, including the Union Square Café restaurant, reception at a Hedge Fund and the box office at a Theatre, giving me varied life experiences and perspectives.

Outside of school and work, you could find me at the Hungarian Pastry Shop, the McNally Jackson bookstore, the Met museum, BAM, or walking for hours from Brooklyn to Washington Heights.

I moved back to France in 2021 and now live in a small city in the Paris region, where I have found a balance between teaching, writing and an enriching personal life.

WRITING & PERSONAL LIFE

Beyond the classroom, a creative life

After co-writing and performing a short devised theatre piece in NY, I wrote a literary monologue exploring the relationship between place and identity. Since then I have been writing short stories and essays, and my work has been published in Elsewhere and Revue Version Originale. I am currently working on a novella.

In parallel, I am an avid reader of literary fiction and creative non-fiction, in French and English.

When I am not teaching or writing, I love wandering city streets, bookstores and museums, learning how to paint, or exploring different French regions - particularly a small magical island off the coast of Brittany.
